Data Mining – Key to Performance Improvement

data mining

The more data, the better, right? Data mining lets us better understand where we are and where we are going. From production stats to KPIs, the more and more accurate data we have, the more accurately we can project where we are going and how to maintain the optimum course.

However, it is now easy to become completely overwhelmed by the sheer volume of data we can collect. We have equipment sensors, weather monitoring, and employee surveys. We can use bots to crawl through customer data to better understand their needs. There is specific data on particular processes, and metadata available for a broad, high-level understanding of trends. It takes no time at all to collect the data. In fact, we can have whole armies of people doing the collection, and then find ourselves doing nothing with it.

Turn Your Data Into Action: How to Predict, Analyze, and Improve Performance

Most of us would like to use this data to predict the direction of our company and how we can better understand how our actions affect the trajectory. And I have a great session for you!! At our 2025 Global TapRooT® Summit, Kevin McManus will be presenting a session on data mining and using the data we collect. He’ll be discussing key items such as how to:

  • Spot and segregate ‘nice to have’ data from those ‘must have’ metrics you must monitor
  • Effectively identify, trend, and analyze leading indicators of work performance
  • Use data to quickly make systematic, fact-based, short and long-term choices
  • Accurately predict future process, project, place, and position costs
  • Build data-based value assessment algorithms for processes, places, and positions

Don’t miss this session. I see so many companies collect data, and never know if it’s the right data, poorly analyze the data they have, and never get any benefit from their collection efforts. Register for Kevin’s session in the Safety and Risk Management Track and get yourself focused on the effective use of your data.
