Is it your equipment or the user?

equipment

How many times have you had a piece of equipment break, and you simply put a temporary fix in place?

Maybe your “temporary fix equipment” included some heavy-duty tape or some gorilla glue. I mean, after all, the gorilla glue fixes everything, right? Let’s face it, most of the time, we don’t have the time or energy to sit down and dig into the real problem of how or why that failed. We want to get the job done, and we want to get it done now.

But what if we are talking about a major piece of equipment. Gorilla glue isn’t going to work all the time.

It is crucial that we figure out what went wrong, and it is crucial that the problem is fixed the proper way. This may take time — but you may save yourself or others from serious injuries, or you may save lives. We can see what is important here.

Improve Reliability by Using TapRooT® Root Cause Analysis

Equipment reliability expert Heinz Bloch helped us tailor TapRooT® Root Cause Analysis for equipment reliability professionals.

What are the biggest problems finding the root causes of failures and reliability issues? First, if you don’t do good troubleshooting to start with, you will lose the evidence you need to identify the failure’s root causes. That’s why we worked with equipment reliability expert Heinz Bloch to develop the Equifactor® Troubleshooting Tables. They can help your equipment experts or mechanics do a great job troubleshooting problems and collecting the information you need for root cause analysis.

Second, reliability experts know a lot, but they don’t usually know about human factors. The TapRooT® Root Cause Analysis System will help guide reliability experts to the root causes of failures whether they are caused by mechanical failures or human errors.

Challenges:

  • Can’t afford repeat failures.
  • Need better data to analyze generic causes of reliability issues.
  • Need to develop better preventive maintenance/predictive maintenance programs based of equipment failure data.
  • Mechanics in the field need better troubleshooting skills.

Equifactor® is a tool built into the TapRooT® System that is designed to help investigators determine equipment problems and then fix them. Let’s start fixing equipment failures the proper way!

Attend one of our TapRooT® Equifactor® courses to learn more, or call 865.539.2139 to schedule an on-site course so that your staff can learn together.
