How far away is death? Cannibal tree frogs

cannibal tree frog

These cannibal tree frogs are big as a human hand.

The cannibal tree frogs are posing a problem for native species.

In 2023, the Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Resources Division of Georgia began recording the cannibal tree frogs due to their potential to cause damage to the ecology. These frogs have also been referred to as Cuban tree frogs, with experts guessing their transport to the southern US is perhaps through Florida, where the numbers are adding up to invasive level, and definitely accidental.

The cannibal tree frogs are breeding in areas such as ponds or anywhere with pooled fresh water.
