Remembering the Accident at Three Mile Island – Radiation Funk

I can remember March 28, 1979. I was learning to run reactors at S1W in Idaho. I was on the bus headed to the site when I overheard the bus driver’s transistor radio. The newsman was interviewing a farmer. He said he could smell the radiation from the reactor across the river, and his cows had started reducing the milk they were producing. Three Mile Island became a national phenomenon, so it was natural to have a “disco” TMI song…
