'Connection String Error' message when opening [Version 5]

What Causes This Issue?

When installing the TapRooT® Software Version 5.1.4, sometimes the installation will fail and the user will receive a Connection String error when opening the software.  This is caused by Microsoft SQL Express 2005 not installing correctly and can be the result of several different known issues with Microsoft products.

How Do I fix it?

Listed below are the resolutions to several common scenarios.
  1. Navigate to the drive on which you plan to install TapRoot® (usually C:\)
  2. Right Click on the Program Files folder and select Properties.
  3. On the General tab click the Advanced... button.
  4. Uncheck both Compress contents to save disk space and Encrypt contents to secure data.
  5. Press OK  on the Advanced Attributes dialog. Press Apply and then OK on the Program Files Properties dialog.
  6. From the bottom of this article, download the file RepairConnStr.zip
