How Do I Turn on File and Print Sharing?

File and Printer Sharing is required to install the database engine utilized by the TapRooT® System Software. This can be removed after installation per company security guidelines if necessary.

- Log on as Administrator.

- From the START menu, select CONTROL PANEL / NETWORK CONNECTIONS

- Right-Click on LOCAL AREA CONNECTION and go to PROPERTIES.

- On the GENERAL tab, if FILE AND PRINTER SHARING FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS is missing from the list, click INSTALL / SERVICES / ADD.



- Select FILE AND PRINTER SHARING FOR MICROSOFT NETWORKS and then OK to close the dialog box.



- You may be prompted to restart your computer to complete the install.  If prompted, restart to complete the installation.

- After reboot, open the TapRooT System Software and it will successfully install MSDE.
